Do blogs end? We are brand new to the blogosphere, so don't know what the protocol is. But we are clearly entering a new phase in which there will not be (we hope beyond all hope) health-related events occurring on a regular basis. In short, Finley is now just like every other precious little baby except that he is taking in a dose of phenobarbital every day for at least the next month (our next appointment with the neurologist is May 30 - if we don't see him before then, it means everything has been fine).
When his birth was imminent, we had figured out the whole blogging thing and planned to use it as a way to share pictures, stories and videos with friends and family who live far away. So that is what this blog will be transitioning to now. Each and every one of you that has so faithfully followed him through his incredible first two weeks is completely welcome to continue visiting the blog and sharing in our journey going forward. The posts will likely become less frequent (it is markedly more difficult to find time to blog when there is not a nurse responsible for caring for your child 24/7) and more mundane... and we could not be happier about that. Of course, if he encounters more trouble as his little brain sorts out what is wrong in there, we will update that here.
Below are some more pictures from the last couple of days and a video of something that seemed like a dream two weeks ago... Finley sleeping in his own crib in his own nursery.
We will never be able to adequately express the gratitude we feel for the love, support, encouragement and prayers we have received over the last two weeks. It brought strength when we were physically exhausted, hope when we were in complete despair, and faith when there was no sense to be found. Finley will one day look back with the same wonder that we feel now at how awesome the power of love and prayer is.

We are giving Mommy a little sleep-in which she so deserves, so Fin and I are just hanging out and thought we would post some pictures from last night. I figured out how to edit my videos (in a very simple way, anyway) and sent them to the neurologist last night. We hope to hear back today at some point, but there is no guarantee he will have time in his day today. Will keep you posted.
We went for our first walk on Sunday afternoon. We realized that we do not have any clothes for him (just pj's) and it was about 65 F out. So we went to the closet and found a bear outfit he had been given for Christmas before he was even born and he wore that... luckily we did not pass any Children's Aid folks on our walk.
We have just come from his first appointment with his paediatrician. It went well. The greatest thing she said after examining him was "if you didn't know his story, you would think this is just a regular kid". That was great to hear.
