Some more firsts

We went for our first walk on Sunday afternoon. We realized that we do not have any clothes for him (just pj's) and it was about 65 F out. So we went to the closet and found a bear outfit he had been given for Christmas before he was even born and he wore that... luckily we did not pass any Children's Aid folks on our walk.
We have just come from his first appointment with his paediatrician. It went well. The greatest thing she said after examining him was "if you didn't know his story, you would think this is just a regular kid". That was great to hear.
We have received several messages since coming home. Thank you so much for those. Several people are saying things like "you fought and won" and "it is awesome to see that he has come through this". I want to caution all of us to remember that he is still on a very high dose of a strong drug and the doctors have no idea what caused the seizures or if that cause is still there. He is indeed a hero in our eyes for the fight he has shown thus far, but we don't know how many more battles lie ahead. We got a blunt reminder of this on Sunday night. As he slept on my chest, he began twitching quite strongly and it lasted for a while and recurred a couple of times. We don't know whether it was seizure activity or not. Luckily we thought to grab the video camera and tape it. We showed the tape to the paediatrician today hoping she would say "oh, that is perfectly normal", but she didn't. She has recommended that we email the clip to the neurologist (and actually spoke to him during our appointment to confirm that this was okay). All hail technology!! This has given us a lot of peace of mind because now we know we have this resource if other things happen over the remaining three weeks before we go back to the neurologist.
Otherwise, he continues to do great and we are just loving having him home and cuddling him and loving him.
Much love,
Mommy, Daddy, Finley, and Tasman

Greetings from Burks Falls,

We had been eagerly awaiting the news of Finley's birth. Pat Mansfield called us with the news. We are delighted to hear of his progress and continue to pray to our Father for sustained health.

Our son was born March 10th, we named him Riley James. 6lb 15oz at birth.
I think of you often Robyn when I am up in the night with Riley wondering if you too, are burning the midnight oil.

Jamie and I share in your excitement for your new son - the joy of parenthood is like no other.

May God bless you and your family as you look to him for strength and guidance.

Many hugs and kisses to you all!
(Even the dog)

Love,
James, Robin and Riley Wood

p.s. the whole family here sends their love, they have all seen the website and enjoyed the pictures!
